Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal The students of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) created ruckus on Wednesday when they were not allowed to appear in mid semester exam. The students said their future would be jeopardized if they are not allowed to appear in the exam. This exam is for 20 marks and only those students were eligible to participate who have minimum 75 per cent attendance. Many final year students could not appear in exam due to the attendance criterion. Students of the entire class could not appear in exam due to short attendance. Many students could not appear in the 10 mark mini test held in January due to the same reason i.e. short attendance. After this the attendance of the students had increased in February.

No re-exam would be conducted: Dean

About 5400 students are studying in the nine branches of MANIT. The students pass on the basis of three exams including mini test, mid semester exam and final exam. The marks of all three exams are added. But many students of the final year could not appear in the mini test in January and now they have not been allowed to appear in the mid semester exam. However Dean Alok Mittal said the students have not been allowed to appear in the mid semester according to the rules and no re-exam would be conducted. The students with less than 75 per cent attendance are not eligible to appear in the exam according to the rule 7.4. Ajay Verma, public relations officer, MANIT
