ONGC dedicated model village in Tripura

Agencies, Agartala The ONGC Tripura Asset has dedicated it’s Model Village Karbongpara under Champabari ADC village of West Tripura today. The village housed only 31 families of threatened Karbong tribe was adopted by them.Talking on the occasion, ONGC’s Director (On-shore) VP Mahawar and Tripura Asset Manager G K Singha Roy said that ONGC is committed for holistic development including building road and other infrastructure in the village. They also assured that ONGC will implement some skill development projects for the villagers and help them to secure their alternative livelihood for a better life in future. Mahawar shared his terrible experience when he walked down to Karbongpara, a tribal hamlet around 4.5 km from Champaknagar and said, “Today, I am happy to see that some facilities- toilets, community halls, drinking water, drinking water, irrigation facilities, goat raring and piggery have been created.”He pointed out, “I found people belonging to Karbong, a sub-tribe of Halam community is usually shy of any outsider.
