Indian Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi and French President Mr.Allende in 2015 Paris meet took the initiative to form International Solar Alliance (ISA). Mr.Allende during his visit to India laid foundation for its Headquarter in India at Gurugram-Gudgaon. The 2-nation effort have now developed into 121 nation organization.
During the current visit of French President Mr.Emmanual Macron first Summit conference of the Alliance held in Delhi. Mr.Modi presented a 10-point action plan to promote the use of Solar energy.
He announced the generous release of funds to the tune of 1.4 billion dollar for 15 developing countries as he wanted a solar revolution across the Globe. The fund receiving countries will take up 27 solar projects in their countries. India has distributed 143 million dollar for 13 different solar project.
The French President Mr.Macron lauded India’s solar commitments that has 20 GW (Gigawatt) installed solar capacity of the fastest growing in the world. The Summit adopted Delhi Agenda to hike solar power share in the energy mix. In the solar summit 23 head of states 10 ministers and delegates from 88 nations are participating.
About a trillion dollars will be needed to achieve to 1 TW solar power capacity by 2030. The France will provide the Rs.5600 crores to the Alliance by 2022 to generate solar power of 65 lakh crores. India in 4 years will generate 100 Gegawat (GW) power and by 2022 the power generation from all renewable sources will be of 175 Gegawatt.
Among the top 6 solar power plants in the world 3 are located in India. The third largest solar park of the world is located in Kurnool in Andhra. Mr.Macron said in 2015 the Solar Alliance was dream of Mr.Modi and now we did it by realizing such a vast summit with large number of countries. It was just an idea but we acted very quickly to make it reality.
India’s city Gurgaon to serve as headquarter of International Solar Alliance. It is for the first time that an international body has its Secretariat in India.
Mr.Macron in a indirect reference assailed the move of American President Mr.Donald Trump decision to withdraw America from the Paris Environment Accord and hailed India to stand firm for global protection.
In the Alliance most of the countries are geographically so placed that they get sunlight and solar power in all the days of the year. India is also a fortunate nation of having sun light for the whole year.
