15 killed in paramilitary forces attack on Sudan’s El Fasher

Khartoum, July 4 (UNI) At least 15 people were killed and 32 others injured in an artillery attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a market in El Fasher, the capital city of North Darfur State in western Sudan.

“All the dead and injured were civilians. They were targetted at the Al-Mawashi (livestock) market in El Fasher,” Ibrahim Khatir, director-general of North Darfur State’s health ministry, told Xinhua on Wednesday.

Since May 10, fierce clashes have been raging in El Fasher, the capital city of North Darfur State.

It is the latest escalation of the broader conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and RSF across the country since April 15, 2023.

The deadly conflict has so far claimed at least 16,650 lives, according to the latest update by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs last month.
