2.5 lakh outsourced workers miffed with MP BJP manifesto

BJP lured them with promise of regularization, but forgot it in 2023

Bhopal, M.P. Dinesh Sisodia, Provincial General Secretary of Electricity Outsourced Employees Organization, says that after reading the election manifesto of Madhya Pradesh BJP, 2.5 lakh outsourced workers have become frustrated. In its manifesto, BJP has shown the lollipop of 100 percent registration to outsourced unorganized workers only under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

Whereas in point 8.8 of its manifesto, Congress talked about making a provision in the recruitment rules on not removing the youth working in government departments on outsourced-contract-honorarium basis and regularizing them in a phased manner and taking them for outsourced direct recruitment. It has been promised to end outsourcing contract system and contract honorarium system.

Mr. Sisodia says that in its written manifesto in 2013, BJP wooed the contract workers with the promise of regularizing them, but now it has turned around and forgotten the same promise in its manifesto 2023 and instead of regularizing them, it has given regular equal pay.

Mr. Sisodia is of the opinion that the Chief Minister has formed four committees in the last six years regarding increase in grade pay, salary discrepancy and salary allowances, but even after six years, no decision has been taken in this regard. Whereas neighboring states Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have even issued orders in this regard.

In point no. 12.5 of its manifesto, Congress has promised to set up a Pay Discrepancy Commission in the first cabinet meeting.

Keeping in view the rising inflation rates, there should be increase in dearness allowance, house rent and conveyance allowance similar to that of the Centre.

Promises to provide pension through the government treasury on par with the state and giving the benefit of old pension to the employees who got regular recruitment after 2005 should also be expedited; this is in the employee’s interest.

The BJP should also take inspiration from this and include the demand for outsourced and contract employees in the revised manifesto.
