2 injured in Israeli airstrikes in S. Lebanon

Beirut, Mar 5 (UNI) Two Lebanese brothers were injured on Wednesday in Israeli airstrikes targeting a car in the southern Lebanese town of Ras Naqoura, state media reported.

The state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israeli drones carried out multiple airstrikes on the vehicle near a landfill site south of a position of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. The brothers, who were collecting scrap metal at the time of the strike, were wounded and taken to the hospital.

According to the NNA, Lebanese army personnel and civilians attempted to reach the site, but Israeli drones launched another strike to prevent them from accessing the area.

In a separate incident, the NNA reported that a drone dropped a stun grenade towards a civilian on the road between the town of Tal al-Nahas and the village of Kafr Kila in southeastern Lebanon, without providing further details.

On Tuesday, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee announced on social media platform X that an Israeli airstrike in the southern Lebanese village of Qana killed Khodr Hashem, the naval commander of Radwan Force, a special operations unit in Hezbollah’s armed forces.

Adraee accused Hashem of being “involved in terrorist activities against Israel and its citizens.”

Since Nov. 27, 2024, a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been in effect, bringing an end to over a year of clashes between Hezbollah and Israel triggered by the war in Gaza.

However, the Israeli military continues to carry out strikes in Lebanon, claiming they are aimed at neutralizing “threats” posed by Hezbollah.
