34 Naxalites gunned down in encounter with security forces

Dantewada: Security personnel have registered a massive success in Naxal crackdown in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region as over 30 Naxalites were neutralised in a fierce encounter on Friday. Reports indicate that 34 Naxalites have been killed during the conflict, coinciding with Chief Minister Vishnudeeo Sai’s visit to the region.

A gunfight erupted at around 1 PM in the forest between Thulthuli and Nendur villages, located on the Narayanpur-Dantewada inter-district border, during an anti-Naxal operation by a joint security team, according to Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range), Sundarraj P.

Security forces have successfully recovered the bodies of the slain Naxalites, along with a substantial cache of weapons. The encounter is still continuing, and the number of casualties among the Naxalites may rise.

The clash began with heavy exchanges of gunfire reported. SP Gaurav Rai confirmed that all police personnel involved in the operation are safe and a joint operation by the Dantewada and Narayanpur police is underway.

In a tweet regarding the encounter, CM Vishnudeo Sai commended the cops for their major achievement, expressing admiration for their bravery. He emphasized that the government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism from the state remains steadfast and will continue until the mission is accomplished.
