Bhopal: A 100-year-old bridge built on the Kwari river in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh collapsed on Tuesday morning, injuring five workers. An officer gave this information. The incident took place near Sikroda village of Kailaras police station area.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Pradeep Tomar said that the more than 100 years old bridge built on the narrow gauge railway line is being demolished because the railways is changing the gauge of this route. The official said that the workers were cutting the structure of the old iron bridge with a gas cutter, but it suddenly collapsed and five workers were injured. He said that all five injured have been admitted to the district hospital of Morena.
On the matter, Additional Superintendent of Police Morena Arvind Thakur said that, an old railway bridge was being cut, due to the collapse of one side wall, the workers fell down and got injured. 5 people have been injured. Everyone’s condition is stable. Authorities are currently on the scene, coordinating rescue efforts and ensuring the safety of those involved. The collapse of the historic bridge has raised concerns about the condition of other aging infrastructure across the region.
