5 years old dies from electric shock in quarry water

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
A tragic incident in Ratibad, Bhopal, claimed the life of a 5-year-old boy after he was electrocuted while washing his hands in a water-filled quarry. The child, Ayush Patel, had gone to the quarry with his sister for sanitation purposes when he unknowingly touched electrically charged water and collapsed.

Fatal Electrical Hazard

The quarry, located near Millennium College in Barkheda-Nathu, was being used for irrigation by nearby farmers. A live electrical wire from a running water pump had fallen into the water, spreading current throughout. Ayush’s chest was severely burnt from the shock.

His father, Mangal Patel, who was working nearby, rushed to the scene after hearing cries for help. He disconnected the live wire and pulled Ayush out, but the child succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

Investigation Underway

Authorities have handed over the body to the family after post-mortem. A case has been registered, and police have begun an investigation into negligence. The hazardous use of open quarries for irrigation remains a serious safety concern in the area.
