- Bhopal Collector issues official directive
Bhopal: In a bid to make the city beggar-free, the district administration is forming 8 teams, which will also include police personnel, to assist in the smooth implementation of this initiative. According to a recent order passed in the capital, all beggars around traffic lights and temples are required to be relocated to shelters. However, many areas in the city still see beggars, which poses a significant safety risk to them.
To address this concern, and to ensure their safety, Bhopal District Collector Kausalendra Vikram Singh has issued an official directive. Each team will consist of one male and one female police officer. When a team encounters a beggar, they will use a Dial 100 vehicle to transport the individual to the shelter home located in Kolar. The Collector has written a letter to the Police Commissioner to implement this plan effectively.
This move comes after the administration faced resistance from beggars when action was taken in February. To ensure smoother operations, the Social Justice Department’s Joint Director, R.K. Singh, mentioned that the list of departments contributing employees to these teams is almost complete, and the formation of teams will take place soon.
