- Statement comes amid assembly elections in five states

Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh on Monday again raised questions on the reliability of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) amid assembly elections in five states of the country.
Rajya Sabha MP Singh has written in his post on social media X, Honorable Election Commission, I have only one request from you. Hand us the VVPAT slip which we can put in the separate ballot box. Before counting, count the votes of any 10 ballot boxes and match the results of the counting unit. If the results of both are the same then declare the result based on the results of the counting unit. What problem does the Election Commission have in this? This is my prayer to the Honorable Supreme Court. Take this seriously and save democracy in the country.
Meanwhile, in a discussion with journalists here, Singh said that he stands by his tweet. If democracy is to be saved in this country, fair elections are necessary. He said, ‘As a voter, my only demand is that my vote should be recorded correctly. Go to the right place. This is not detected in VVPAT. The senior Congress leader said that the machine which has a chip cannot be tamper proof. VVPAT and counting units have a chip installed and it works according to software.
The former Chief Minister said that he had talked to many engineers and experts in this regard. Singh said that we have some questions regarding VVPAT and these should be resolved. The Election Commission should also pay attention to this.
