Kukshi, Nov 6 (UNI) Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra could not suppress her smile on Monday in the context of a clever remark – regarding tycoon Gautam Adani – by a member of the audience during a rally in this town of election-bound Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district.
While addressing the public meeting, the visiting leader asked, “Who is the country’s biggest industrialist?”
“Adani,” the crowd responded.
“Kya koi mujhe bata sakta hai ki woh kya banate hain? (Can anyone tell me what he manufactures?) Cars, toothpaste, pillars, loudspeakers or cement?” Mrs Priyanka queried.
“Bewakoof banate hain. (He makes fools of others),” came the reply.
Continuing her speech, the Congress General Secretary said, “Public assets and government industries were given to him for peanuts. Loans worth thousands of crores were waived. Certain people desire to remain in power to perpetrate corruption and make palaces for themselves.
Their regimes are running for tycoons. Mr Adani rakes in Rs 1,600 crore a day with the help of the government and in stark contrast the hapless peasant earns a paltry Rs 27. Mr Modi’s suits cost lakhs and he travels in an aircraft purchased for Rs 8,000 crore but cannot waive agrarian debt.
Like the kings of yore, they are snatching all your rights,” she added.
