Mumbai Nov 10 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya, popularly known as P B Acharya passed away at his residence in Juhu on Friday.
He was 92.
Born in Udupi in coastal Karnataka on October 8, 1931, Acharya served as the Governor of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura between 2014 and 2019.
He had held various positions in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before becoming governor.
In 1980, P.B. Acharya joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was elected the BJP President of North West Bombay District in 1987 and later in 1989 became a committee member of the Mumbai BJP.
In 1991, he was elected as National Executive member of BJP and incharge of the North Eastern States namely, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland.
