Tel Aviv, Dec 1 (UNI) US Secretary of State Antony Blinken left Israel for the United Arab Emirates a few minutes after a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was violated by Palestinian movement Hamas during his fourth visit to the Jewish state, media reported on Friday.
Blinken visited Israel on Thursday to discuss humanitarian aid delivery to the Gaza Strip, efforts to free remaining hostages and the conflict’s de-escalation prospects in the future, Israeli broadcaster Kan reported.
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was due to expire at 7:00 a.m. (05:00 GMT) on Friday.
Earlier on Friday, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said it had resumed fighting against the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, saying it had violated the humanitarian pause by opening fire on Israeli territory.
The Wall Street Journal reported late Thursday that the two sides had agreed to extend a temporary humanitarian pause for the eighth day, but the information has not been officially confirmed.
