On Saturday in Niwari district, a woman named Savita Ahirwar (30), a resident of Mamora village, was allegedly subjected to severe beating by a couple for not walking on the side of the road. The incident, captured in a video that surfaced on Sunday, depicts the couple kicking and punching the woman. In response to the complaint filed by Savita at the Geron police station, an investigation has been initiated, and a case has been registered.
Savita recounted that the dispute arose with Bhupendra Singh Yadav and his wife Anita Yadav over the matter of not walking on the side of the road. The altercation escalated with verbal abuse and physical assault initiated by Bhupendra and Anita. In the video footage, a young man is seen coming to the woman’s aid while the couple continues their assault. Despite the woman attempting self-defense with slippers, she is pushed and falls down.
In her complaint, Savita stated, “I was taking food to the farm for my husband and sister-in-law’s son when Bhupendra Singh and his wife Anita approached in a tractor, insisting that I walk on a specific side of the road. I explained that I was already walking on the side, but Bhupendra was displeased with my response. He began verbally abusing me, and when I protested, both Bhupendra and Anita descended from the tractor, assaulting me with kicks, punches, and slippers. They also threatened to kill me if I reported the incident to the police, mentioning that Bhupendra’s land is adjacent to our farm.”
The police have taken cognizance of the case, registering it for investigation.
