Bhopal: The team of Cyber Crime Branch District Bhopal arrested 2 accused including the main accused from Bhopal who cheated the complainant of Rs 70,500 in the name of selling a scooty online.
On August 29, 2022, the complainant Shailesh Jain, resident of Nehru Nagar, Bhopal, had given a written complaint to the Cyber Crime Branch, District Bhopal. Jain had searched online on Google to buy Activa scooty and also told his acquaintances. Then on 27 August 2022, a call came from mobile number 7489350573 and said that his acquaintance is shifting to Indore and he is selling his Activa scooty. After that he sent the photo of Activa on WhatsApp and told that the scooty cost around Rs 72000/-.
After this, a total of Rs 70500 was paid online by the complainant in 6 times on QR code. After taking the money, the accused refused to give the scooty and switched off his mobile number. In this way the complainant was defrauded of Rs 70,500.
Police told the modus operandi of the accused. The accused obtains the mobile numbers by obtaining information about the people who buy the vehicle through online Google search and talk about selling the vehicle as per the buyer’s requirement. When the deal of the vehicle is finalized, then they ask to pay the entire amount online before handing over the vehicle. After taking money, they refuse to give vehicles to people and switch off their mobile number. After the money comes into the account, cash is immediately withdrawn from the account. Accused Amit Gandhi had earlier been arrested in cyber zone Gwalior for cyber crime.
The accused arrested by police include Amit Gandhi, resident of Banjari Housing Society, Kolar Road, Bhopal, and Lalmani Ghimire, resident of Banjari Housing Society, Kolar Road Bhopal.
