New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday said that the Prime Minister will never tell the country that 21 billionaires combined have more wealth than 70 crore Indians today.
Taking to his social media post X, the party general secretary in-charge communication alleged, “More than 40% of the wealth created in the country from 2012 to 2021 has gone to just 1% of the population”.
While slamming the government, Ramesh also alleged that in the last ten years, public assets sold have gone to one or two companies only.
“Most of the public assets and resources sold in the last ten years have gone to one or two companies – economists have shown that the growing monopolisation of the economy has led to higher inflation,” the Rajya Sabha MP said in his post.
He said that around 64% of the total goods and services tax (GST) in the country comes from the poor, the lower middle classes, and the middle classes.
The senior Congress leader said that India needs faster economic growth, more inclusive economic growth and hugely more ecologically sustainable growth. Adding that “Only INDIA can and will deliver this triad”.
