Dehradun, May 24 (UNI) The pilgrimage to the holy Sikh shrine of Hemkund Sahib, located in the high ranges of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, commenced on Friday. The doors of Hemkund Sahib will open on Saturday at 9.30 am.
The first group of pilgrims departed from Gurdwara Govind Ghat, led by the Punj Pyare.
The group was flagged off by Gurdwara Manager Seva Singh and Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) Vice President Kishore Panwar.
Before their departure, a special prayer session, including Akhand Path and Kirtan, was held in the Darbar Hall of Govind Ghat Gurdwara, where prayers for the wellbeing of all were offered.
To ensure a smooth and safe journey for the pilgrims, the state government and district administration have made extensive arrangements along the route. For security reasons, a daily limit of 3,500 pilgrims has been set for the initial days of the Hemkund Sahib Yatra.
