- Nath family’s traditional stronghold slips out of their hand
Chhindwara: Giving a big blow to Congress and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath in Madhya Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Vivek Sahu snatched the Chhindwara seat, which is considered the impenetrable fort of Congress in the state, from the Congress and put it in the BJP’s lap.
According to the data released by the Election Commission, Sahu got 6 lakh 44 thousand 738 votes. In the last election, former Chief Minister Kamal Nath’s son and Congress candidate Nakul Nath, who was elected MP from here, remained in second place with 5 lakh 31 thousand 120 votes.
This seat has been occupied by the Congress in the form of Kamal Nath and his family members for almost four decades. After Kamal Nath was elected MLA from here, the Congress fielded his son Nakul Nath in the Lok Sabha election from this parliamentary constituency. In the last election, Nakul Nath was elected MP from here. This time the BJP had made every effort to bring this seat in its account.
