Srinagar, July 18 (UNI) A gun battle erupted on Thursday between security forces and militants along the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.
The gunfight erupted in the Keran sector of the Kupwara when a search operation was taking place in the area.
“ As the search operation was on, hiding terrorists opened fire triggering a gunfight,” officials said. “ There is no report of any casualties.”
There is no official word from the Army or police on the operation so far.
This is the second gun battle in the Keran sector in the last four days. On July 14, three militants were killed in the Keran sector while they were trying to infiltrate the valley.
