NATHEALTH calls for doctors’ safety, says any act of violence is deplorable

New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) NATHEALTH, a Healthcare Federation of India on Friday urged the Government and Law enforcement agencies to ensure a safe work environment for doctors, stating that any act of violence against them is “unacceptable and deplorable”.

Condemning the recent brutal act of medical violence in Kolkata, healthcare industry body NATHEALTH said, “Doctors and healthcare providers require a safe operating environment to deliver care and save lives.”

“Any act of violence against doctors or healthcare workers is unacceptable and deplorable,” it said.

NATHEALTH extends full solidarity with medical professionals and urges the Government and Law enforcement agencies to ensure a safe work environment for all those who are fighting to save lives round the clock by building an effective deterrence, the statement read.

“This requires a stronger legislative framework to protect the medical care giving community at large and strong response to each incidence of violence towards speedy justice,” it added.
