Gaza, Aug 21 (UNI) At least nine people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a market in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, Palestinian sources said Tuesday.
Palestinian security sources told Xinhua that an Israeli aircraft launched at least one missile at the market, which was packed with shoppers.
Medical sources told Xinhua that the airstrike killed nine people, including women and children, and left several others injured.
The bodies of the victims and the injured were all taken to the Shuhada al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, and there are concerns that the death toll may rise, according to the sources.
Israel has not commented on the airstrike yet.
Israel has been conducting a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip in retaliation for a Hamas attack on southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed, and around 250 others were taken hostage.
