New Delhi, August 26 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday released a revised list of 15 candidates for the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections scheduled on September 18.
The party has fielded Syed Showkat Gayoor Andrabi from Pampore, Javed Ahmad Qadri from Shopian, Arshid Bhat from Rajpora, Advocate Syed Wazahat from Anantnag, Sushri Shagun Parihar from Kishtwar, and Gajay Singh Rana from Doda. Rakesh Thakur will contest from Ramban seat, Salim Bhat from Banihal, and Shakti Raj Parihar from Doda West.
Earlier, BJP released a list of 44 candidates for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections which was later withdrawn.
The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases beginning from September 18. Counting will take place on October 4 for the 90-member Assembly constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir.
Of the total 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, 74 are reserved for general, nine for Scheduled Tribes, and seven for Scheduled Castes.
The Union Territory has 87.09 lakh eligible electorates with an equal percentage of males and females, according to the Election Commission.
