An awareness program was organized in the pediatric OPD area on Wednesday to create awareness about sickle cell anemia disease at AIIMS Bhopal. Dr. Ajay Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bhopal said that we are constantly trying to increase awareness about sickle cell anemia.
This genetic disorder affects many individuals and their families, it is our responsibility to keep education and early identification at the forefront of our health services. By organizing awareness sessions and sensitization programs, we aim to provide information to patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers that will help them identify symptoms early, access effective treatment options, and manage the disease more efficiently.
Through widespread community literacy, advanced genetic screening, and a strong support system to fulfill the Government of India’s concept of a sickle-free India, we can make a significant impact in preventing and managing sickle cell anemia. Together, we can progress towards a future where sickle cell anemia is not a barrier to living a healthy and fulfilling life. The awareness event featured experts from the departments of Pediatrics and Hematology who answered questions from the public.
