Chandigarh, Sep 1 (UNI) All India Congress Committee General Secretary, former Union Minister and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja said on Sunday that the Congress will fight and win strongly on each of the 90 Haryana Assembly seats.
She said the BJP was nervous about the elections, therefore, it sought a delay in voting by four days – from Oct 1 to Oct 5. “Changing the date will not change the BJP’s fate because people have already decided to remove it and bring the Congress to power,” she said.
Talking about the possibility of her contesting the October 5 Assembly elections, Kumari Selja said that even before the Lok Sabha elections she had expressed her desire to contest the state elections, but the final decision will be made by the high command. “If the high command orders, I will surely contest,” she said.
On the question about who will be the Congress chief ministerial face in the elections, she said the decision on who will be the CM will also be taken by the Congress high command.
Regarding the delay in announcing Congress candidates, she said that meetings are ongoing, and the names of the candidates will be announced soon. Our workers are strong at the grassroots level. The Congress had won 31 seats in the 2019 Assembly elections.
She said as demanded by Rahul Gandhi a caste census will be carried out in the state, once a Congress government comes to power in Haryana.
Regarding the alliance between the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), as well as Aam Aadmi Party and the Jannayak Janata Party, she said that these pacts would not have any impact in the upcoming elections. “People have already chosen Congress as an alternative,” she said.
