- Accident happened while reversing after unloading the gravel
Bhopal: A couple sleeping on the kutcha road of the colony under construction in Eintkhedi area was crushed by a dumper, due to which both died on the spot. The accident happened at around 10:30 pm when the dumper was reversing after unloading the gravel. The deceased couple used to work as labourers in this colony and lived in a house under construction. Due to lack of electricity at night, they slept on the road outside the house to get relief from the heat. There was no cleaner in the dumper at the time of the accident, due to which this accident happened. The police have seized the dumper and started searching for the driver.
According to the police, Bachchulal Balmiki (48) was a resident of Shamshabad district Vidisha. He used to work as a labourer in Sunrise Homes Colony located in Lambakheda along with his wife Ghanshyam Bai. This colony is currently being developed, where other arrangements including road construction are being made. There is a house under construction in this colony, where the Balmiki couple lived. On Tuesday night, it was very hot due to lack of electricity, so Bachchu Lal and his wife Ghanshyam went and slept on the kutcha road outside the house. A dumper that had come to unload the gravel crushed them. The driver unloaded the gravel at one place and then started reversing the dumper. The driver did not know that someone was sleeping on the road, so he reversed the dumper backwards with speed. During this time, the couple sleeping on the road came under the wheels. After the accident, the driver left the dumper and ran away.
At the time of the incident, there was no cleaner in the dumper to show the way. As soon as the driver came to know about the accident, he left the dumper and ran away from the spot and informed the owner. After receiving the information at around 11 pm, the police reached the spot and sent the bodies to the hospital for postmortem. After the postmortem on Wednesday, the bodies were handed over to the relatives. Efforts are being made to arrest the driver.
