Dilapidated roads will become a hindrance in arrival of Mata Rani in capital

  • Big potholes on road causing accidents
  • Situation arisen due to lack of attention of responsible people

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
The residents of the capital have been forced to bear the brunt of Bhopal’s bad roads for a long time. The roads which should have been repaired before the rains started are still in bad and dilapidated condition.

Due to these bad roads, devotees had to face a lot of difficulties during Ganesh immersion in the city recently. At the same time, Navratri is going to start from the 3rd and with this Mata Rani will arrive. At the same time, the committee and the devotees are once again afraid that these dilapidated roads are going to become a big challenge in the way of bringing the big idols of Mata. It is very difficult to drive a two-wheeler on these roads, so driving a tractor-trolley carrying such a huge statue will be no less than a big challenge. The performance guarantee of most of these roads was about 5 to 6 years, but they did not last even five months and broke down and became dilapidated. On this, the PWD and Municipal Corporation officials just keep pleading for patchwork. These roads are inviting accidents every day, but still no responsible officer is paying attention to these bad roads. Now the big question arises that do they not see these bad roads while driving on the road?

The Municipal Corporation and PWD have got patchwork done on roads at many places. Still 70% of the roads of the capital are in bad condition. The places where roads are bad include the most posh areas of Bhopal like Hoshangabad Road, Arera Colony, Kohefiza, Katara Hills, Kolar Road, Ayodhya Bypass, Awadhpuri Itwara, Mangalwara, many areas of old Bhopal, Idgah Hills, Jehangirabad and Sindhi Colony etc. Out of these, there are hardly a few places where the roads are in good condition. Most of these roads are such from where Mata Rani is going to arrive.

Huge idols are decorated in the capital, so bringing them on tractor trolleys on these bad roads can prove to be very difficult. Many main routes of Bhopal fall on these roads. The roads are full of potholes. The roads on these routes are only in name. Potholes are seen everywhere else.

 Total roads of Bhopal

Municipal Corporation’s roads are more than 4,000 km long
PWD 573 km
BDA 150 km
CPA 132 km

All the roads of Bhopal are not built by the Municipal Corporation. Some are of the Municipal Corporation, some of PWD and some of other agencies. The staff of the Municipal Corporation remains active. Patchwork has been done at many places in the last few months and this work will continue in the future as well.
