Muzaffarpur, (UNI) A Helicopter of Indian Air Force (IAF) engaged in relief operation in flood hit areas, mande an emergency landing on Wednesday in inundated locality of Muzaffarpur district of Bihar.
As per reports reaching here, Helicopter of IAF was dropping relief packets in flood hit Darbhanga and Sitamarhi districts of Bihar. As the Helicopter took off from Sitamarhi, one of its blades got damaged and pilot made an emergency landing in inundated Aurai block of Muzaffarpur district.
” Helicopter got partially submerged in floof water after landing and all the four personnel including pilot and co-pilot were rescued by locals”, sources said adding that all the four personnel were safe. All of them were rushed to Sri Krishna Singh Medical College and Hospital for a medical checkup, sources states
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Subrato Sen said that Helicopter could have crashed but the pilot was somehow able to bring it down despite problems. Local police station had been instructed to ensure safety of the Helicopter, he added.
IAF has ordered inquiry into the incident. A team of experts from IAF would make technical assessment of Helicopter before bringing it back, sources added.
As it is, several districts including Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Saharsa and Madhubani were hit by floods and millions of people were left marooned. Relief and rescue operations were being carried out on war footing.
