New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a plea against the proposed move of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to nominate five members to the legislative Assembly and asked the petitioner to approach the state High Court.
The Bench asked the petitioner, former MLC and senior Congress leader Ravinder Sharma, to first move the Jammu and Kashmir High Court.
Senior Advocate Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared for petitioner Ravinder Kumar Sharma and pleaded that the electoral verdict can be throttled. “Please let me come back here on delay,” Singhvi said.
A Bench comprising Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice P V Sanjay Kumar said that it will not entertain the matter.
Justice Khanna said, “In many cases, where we have entertained at first instance we see many things get left out.”
The matter pertains to the decision of the Lieutenant Governor to nominate five members to the Assembly just 24 hours before the poll results. The nominated members would be in addition to the 90 elected legislators.
