Investigation from the foundation to the peak of Mahakal temple

  • Investigation team comes to Ujjain from Rudki, assesses strength of temple structure

On Tuesday, on the invitation of the Shri Mahakaleshwar Management Committee, experts from CBRI Roorkee reached the temple, from the foundation to the peak and from the wall to the stones were examined. Some samples were also collected.

When a Navbharat/Central Chronicle reporter discussed with Mahakal temple administration Ganesh Dhakad, he told that many types of new and old construction works are going on around the Mahakal temple. The work of Mahakal Part-2 is also in progress, in such a situation it is important to know the strength of the structure of the Mahakal temple from around the premises and the temple. This is the reason why the investigation from the temple to the premises and from the peak to the foundation has been done by the team from Rudki. The investigation team of CBRI first inspected the peak of the temple and collected samples of stones. Earlier also, on the instructions of the Supreme Court, the CBRI team had inspected the temple.

Investigation on the order of the Supreme Court

New works are being done continuously in Mahakal temple in view of development. Is the structure of Shri Mahakaleshwar temple completely fine due to these construction works or is it facing any problem? To do some such investigation, the condition of the peak, walls and stones of Mahakal temple was tested. A two-member team of the research team that has come from Roorkee has reached Mahakal temple. This team includes senior scientist R Shiva Chidambaram and another assistant. Officials told Navbharat in a discussion that this team is doing a thorough inspection of the new and ancient structure of the temple. Which includes investigation of various aspects from the investigation of the stones located on the peak, their density, material and depth of the foundation to the effect of new construction. Ganesh Dhakad, administrator of Mahakal Temple Committee, said that the investigation team is also doing structural assessment of ancient structures. This committee has been formed by the Supreme Court, which reaches Ujjain every six months and does various types of investigations.
