Mumbai, Oct 20 (UNI) The ruling BJP on Sunday released first list of its 99 candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly election scheduled to be held on November 20.
The list includes the names of prominent candidates such as Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, party’s state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Sudhir Mungattiwar, Chandrakant Patil, Ashish Shelar, Girish Mahajan and Nitesh Rane.
As per the list, Devendra Fadnavis will contest from Nagpur South West, Chandrashekhar Bawankule from Kamathi, Girish Mahajan from Jamner, Sudhir Mungantiwar from Ballarpur, Srijaya Ashok Chavan from Bhokar, Ashish Shelar from Wandre West, Mangal Prabhat Lodha from Malabar Hill, Rahul Narvekar from Colaba and Chhatrapati Shivendra Raje Bhosale from Satara.
Maharashtra currently has a ‘Mahayuti’ alliance government, headed by Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde. Apart from Shiv Sena, this ruling coalition includes BJP and NCP led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
There are a total of 288 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly, out of these, BJP is contesting on 151, while its allies Shiv Sena and NCP are contesting on the remaining seats.
On other hand, the opposition coalition is Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). It includes Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and NCP (SP) led by veteran leader Sharad Pawar.
The election for all 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra will be held in a single phase on November 20 and counting of votes will be done on November 23.
