- All Souls Day observed with reverence
Bhopal: In Bhopal, Christians gathered this Saturday to observe All Souls Day, honoring the memory of their departed friends and family. The day’s observances included special masses held in the morning at Bhadbhada and in the evening at the Catholic cemetery in Bairagarh, with Archbishop A.A.S. Durairaj, VG Father Ishwar Das Minj, and other priests leading the services. A large crowd assembled to decorate the graves of their loved ones with flowers and wreaths, lighting candles and offering prayers for the peace of the departed.
During his sermon, the Archbishop spoke on gratitude and faith in God, urging those present to pray for eternal peace for the departed and to live their lives with dedication and a commitment to serving others.
Christians also pray for forgotten souls
VG Father Ishwar Das Minj emphasized the day’s significance, noting that Christians pray not only for their own departed loved ones but also for forgotten souls who have no one to remember them.
Public Relations Officer Fr. Alfred D’Souza explained that All Souls Day, observed annually on November 2, holds deep meaning in Christianity. It is a time to honor and remember the departed, affirming the Christian belief in life after death and the resurrection of the soul.
Fr. Vipin expressed his gratitude to the Fathers, Sisters, and community members who contributed to ensuring the day was marked with devotion and respect at both sites.
