Less electricity consumed this Diwali than last year

During the Diwali festival, the demand for electricity in the state is the highest, especially at night, but this time surprisingly the demand for electricity in the state was less, that is, there was less lighting in the state on Diwali.

This time on Diwali, 2805 MW less electricity was consumed as compared to last year. The energy department had planned to supply 17 thousand megawatt electricity in the state on the night of Diwali, keeping in view the demand for electricity. Additional electricity was to be taken from the central sector, while more production was to be taken from the hydraulic plants at the time of need, but the maximum demand for electricity on the night of Diwali was only 13325 megawatt, whereas last year on the night of Diwali, the demand for electricity in the state was 16130 megawatt. There was no shortage of electricity anywhere due to the availability of sufficient electricity compared to the demand in the state.

Demand for electricity on Roop Chaturdashi was more than Diwali : The demand for electricity on Dhanteras, Roop Chaturdashi and Diwali remained almost the same, there was not much difference in it. The biggest thing is that the demand for electricity was the highest on Roop Chaturdashi as compared to Diwali. On Roop Chaturdashi, the demand in the state was 13343 megawatt, which was 17 thousand megawatt more than Diwali, while on Dhanteras, the demand for electricity in the state was 13322 megawatt, which was only 3 megawatt less than Diwali.

In the 13325 MW electricity supply of the state on Diwali, the contribution of thermal power of MP Power Generating Company was 2115 MW, hydro power 236 MW, Indira Sagar-Omkareshwar and Sardar Sarovar Project contributed 1063 MW, Central Sector’s share was 2348 MW, Sasan Project contributed 1123 MW.
