Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) Veteran Actor Kamal Haasan turned 70 on Thursday.
Kamal Haasan was born on November 7, 1954 in Paramakudi, Tamil Nadu. His father aspiration that at least one of his three children should become an actor. To fulfil his desire, he decided to make Kamal Haasan as an actor.
The superstar started his film career as a child artist in the film “Kalathur Kanamma” released in 1960. This film is directed by A. Bhim Singh, and he not only won the hearts of the audience with his acting but was also bagged the National Award.
After “Kalathur Kanamma” film was hit , Kamal Haasan worked as a child artist in some films. After this, he stayed away from the film industry for almost nine years.
In the seventies, he left his studies and focused towards the film industry. Meanwhile. On his father’s insistence, he also learnt dance and worked as an assistant choreographer in some films.
In 1973, Kamal Haasan got the opportunity to work with South India’s famous filmmaker K. Balachandra’s film “Arangetram”. The film “Apoorva Ranganagal” released in 1975 proved to be his first hit in film career as a lead actor.
After the commercial hit film “16 Vayathinile” released in 1977, Kamal Haasan became a star actor. In 1981, Kamal Haasan turned to Hindi films and acted in producer L. Prasad’s film “Ek Duje Ke Liye”. In 1982, Kamal Haasan’s another superhit Tamil film “Moondram Pirai” was released for which he was awarded the National Award for Best Actor for the first time in his film career.
Later in 1983, this film was also released in Hindi with the title “Sadma”.
