- CS Jain held a meeting of collectors, instructed to make a micro level action plan
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
The condition of air quality in major cities of Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal is worrying. The government is alert to reduce it. Micro action plans should be made for this.
These instructions were given by Chief Secretary Anurag Jain in the state level steering committee meeting under the National Clean Air Program (NCAP). He asked the collectors of the ‘non-attainment’ cities of the state identified under NKAP, Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Dewas and Sagar, to present an action plan for clean air in the upcoming meeting.
The collectors and commissioners of the cities identified under NKAP participated in the meeting through video conferencing. The Urban Body Commissioner gave information about the work being done to improve the air quality of non-attainment cities. Chief Secretary Jain said that the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board is presenting the information of Air Quality Index (AQI) of the cities of the state every day.
These instructions were also given
– Take action for the punishment prescribed in compliance with the order passed by the Supreme Court to immediately stop the incidents of stubble burning around the cities.
– Take counselling regarding not burning the garbage after collecting it by the municipal corporation’s cleaning staff.
– Like Indore, use ‘mechanical road sweeping’ machines along with regular sprinkling of water at the places where dust is blown from the identified hot spots in Bhopal city.
– Take action to stop pollution caused by vehicles and remove old vehicles by immediately following the PUC norms.
