Sensex surges 759.05 pts

Mumbai, Nov 29 (UNI) Erasing huge losses, the BSE Sensex on Friday rallied 759.05 pts at 79,802.79 following gains in Healthcare, Telecom, and Utilities stocks amid mixed trends in the Asian Market.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 216.95 pts at 24,131.10.

The Sensex opened at 79,032.99, easing 11 pts.

It further slipped 17 pts at 79,026.18, a day low.

Later, it jumped nearly 880 pts at 79,923.90, a days high, before closing at 79,802.79, surging 759.05 pts from its last close.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 24,188.46 pts and 23,927.15 pts respectively.

The stocks that lifted the market were Health Care by 2.05 pc, Telecom by 1.53 pc and Utilities by 1.46 pc.

The Mid-cap rose by 0.31 pc and the Small-cap rose by 0.76 pc.

In 30 scrips, 27 advanced while 3 declined.

The gainers were Bharti Airtel by 4.40 pc to Rs 1629, Sun Pharma by 2.91 pc to Rs 1785.60, M& M by 2.45 pc to Rs 2970.80 and Ultrasemco by 1.78 pc to Rs 11193.35.

The losers were Powergrid by 1.32 pc to Rs 329.30, Nestle India Ltd by 0.07 pc to Rs 2237, SBI by 0.05 pc to Rs 838.35 and Infosys by 0.02 pc to Rs 1857.

Asian Market saw a mixed trend, as Strait Times was up 0.05 pc, and Hang Seng by 0.29 pc.

Kospi fell by 1.99 pc, Taiwan Weighted by 0.16 pc and Set Composite by 0.03 pc.
