Jammu, Dec 13 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday advocated for ‘open debate’ on One Nation, One Election bill expressing hope that it may not meet the same fate like bills reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir and scraping Article 370, happened in 2019 in the Parliament.
On One Nation, One Elections Bill, which is likely to be table in the current Parliament session, the Chief Minister on the sidelines of an event here told reporters that it has not yet tabled in the Parliament and the National Conference will sit and form an opinion on it accordingly.
“I hope that the bill will be debated in the Parliament in length and breadth and the debate should be open and should not be like what happened with creation of UT (J&K Re-organization Act) and Article 370 in 2019, where token debate happened for 2 to 3 hours, and government passed bills,” said Abdullah.
However, on the promise to restore Darbar Move practice and BJP criticism to it, Omar said, “The party (BJP) stopped this practice and did injustice with Jammu.
“BJP Claims to well-wisher of Dogras and Jammu but they not only stopped Darbar Move practice but even changed the geographical map of Jammu,” he said adding, “BJP erased all the footprints and welfare measures instituted by Maharaja Hari Singh for J&K, which included scrraping of Art 370 and changing J&K’s map.”
“We will restore all the lost things at the earliest,” he said and also added that work on framing business rules is going on and hope that by December end or January next year it will be in public domain.”
