Kuwait City/New Delhi, Dec 21 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his programmes in Kuwait by visiting a labour camp in Mina Abdullah area where he interacted with the Indian workers and enquired about their well-being.
The MEA spokesperson said in a post on X that the PM’s visit highlights the importance India attaches to the welfare of Indian workers abroad.
“PM @narendramodi started his program by visiting a labour camp in Mina Abdullah area of Kuwait.
He interacted with Indian workers & enquired about their well-being.
“PM’s first engagement of the day signifies the importance India attaches to the welfare of Indian workers abroad.”
The Mina Abdullah area has a workforce of around 1,500 Indian nationals.
Earlier, on his arrival, the PM was given a heartwarming welcome by the vibrant Indian diaspora.
The PM in a post on X expressed gratitude for the warm welcome. “Their energy, love and unwavering connection to India are truly inspiring. Grateful for their enthusiasm and proud of their contributions to strengthening ties between our nations.”
On his arrival in Kuwait, the PM said:
“Landed in Kuwait to a warm welcome. This is the first visit by an Indian PM in 43 years, and it will undoubtedly strengthen the India-Kuwait friendship across various sectors. I look forward to the programmes scheduled for later today and tomorrow.”
Indians form the largest expatriate community in Kuwait, around one million which is present across various sectors in Kuwait and is contributing immensely and serving as a ‘living bridge’ between the two countries.
Earlier, the PM said that his two-day visit to Kuwait and talks with the Kuwaiti leadership would be an opportunity to chalk out a roadmap for a futuristic partnership for the benefit of their people and the region.
The PM expressed confidence that the visit would further strengthen and reinforce the special ties and bonds of friendship between the people of India and Kuwait.
