- Their implementation a historic step towards making the Indian judicial system more democratic
Bhopal: CM Dr. Mohan Yadav highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, three new criminal laws have been implemented to address contemporary needs and challenges. These laws, aimed at making the judicial system more democratic and removing colonial legacies, were implemented in July 2024. The state government is committed to their full implementation, adopting a five-pronged strategy for effective enforcement. This includes public awareness, training, system and technical upgrades, resource allocation, creation of new posts, and issuing necessary rules and notifications. Progress is regularly monitored with set timeframes to ensure awareness and compliance at all levels, including police stations.
Provisions to prevent cybercrime, digital fraud
CM Dr. Yadav said that the new criminal laws address modern crimes such as cybercrime, data theft, and digital fraud, introducing strict punishments for these offenses. They also ensure expedited hearings and stricter penalties for crimes against women and children, including provisions for timely investigations in cases like rape. By utilizing digital technology and simplifying legal procedures, the new laws aim to expedite the disposal of cases. Dr. Yadav noted that the complexity of old laws often led to prolonged judicial processes and delayed justice for victims. The reforms are expected to deliver swift justice, deter criminals, and improve law and order. Additionally, the strengthened legal framework is anticipated to promote investment, industry growth, and overall development in the state.
