Prayagraj, Jan 21 (UNI) To ensure the safety of devotees and Kalpvasis during the Maha Kumbh Mela, checking of LPG cylinders has been made mandatory and strict action will be taken against the culprits if unauthorized cylinders are found to be sold.
A special meeting on LPG safety was organised by the Food and Civil Supplies Department on Tuesday which was attended by Departmental officials, LPG distributors, representatives of gas companies, and fire Department officials. During the meeting, important guidelines were given to curb accidents caused by the leakage of LPG.
During the meeting, it was decided that the leakage check of LPG cylinders would be done by technical assistants. If leakage is found, the supply of cylinders will be stopped.
Directives have been issued to check the gas cylinders, pipes, and regulators of consumers and replace them if they are not as per the standard. Teams of technical assistants have been deployed in the fair area, which will take immediate action in any emergency.
Storage of up to 100 kg of gas will be allowed in the fair area. Complete details of every supply vehicle will be made available in the office.
It was also decided in the meeting that strict action will be taken against the culprits if misuse of domestic gas or sale of unauthorized cylinders is found. The Food and Civil Supplies department called upon all LPG distributors and officials to monitor and ensure the safety of the gas supply in the fair area.
It was decided that punitive action would be taken against the agencies concerned for violation of rules. Chief Fire Officer (Kumbh) Pramod Sharma and Food and Civil Supplies Officer Sunil Kumar were present at the meeting.
