- Honors and dialogue program today
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
Driven by spiritual devotion, Anand Bhatt, a government employee, embarked on an extraordinary 3,500 km solo cycling journey around the sacred Narmada River, completing it in 55 days. Inspired by an earlier trip by car, Bhatt chose to forego modern comforts, relying solely on nature and faith for sustenance.
Starting on December 2 from Handia (Harda district), considered Narmada’s nucleus, he completed the sacred circuit and concluded the journey with a havan and rituals at the same spot after offering Narmada water to Lord Mahadev in Omkareshwar.
Honor & experience sharing event
Anand Bhatt will be honored today at the state Secretariat, where he will share insights from his incredible journey. His pilgrimage followed strict traditional and scriptural guidelines, maintaining complete solitude, carrying no food, and relying only on offerings from kind strangers (Akashvritti tradition).
A divine experience
Reflecting on his journey, Bhatt described feeling the presence of Narmada Maa at every step. Facing harsh winters, diverse climates, dense forests, and unforeseen challenges like cycle breakdowns, he found that each obstacle was met with unexpected support, reaffirming his faith that the goddess herself accompanied him throughout the pilgrimage.
His journey stands as a testament to faith, endurance, and spiritual awakening.
