United Nations, Feb 11 (UNI) Ukraine has committed to abstaining from attacks on TurkStream as part of the assurances provided by the European Commission for Hungary, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told RIA Novosti.
“We have been given a list of guarantees for three issues. First, that Ukraine must not cut the oil deliveries through Ukraine, second, they would not attack the Turkish Stream infrastructure and third negotiations will be started very quickly about the reopening of the gas transit through Ukraine,” Szijjarto said in an interview.
On January 27, Szijjarto said that Hungary had obtained the necessary assurances regarding energy security from the European Commission, which had been a condition for the country to consider extending sanctions against Russia.
On January 11, Ukraine attempted to attack a TurkStream compressor station near Russia’s Anapa in the Krasnodar Territory using nine drones to stop gas supplies to European countries, the Russian Defense Ministry said last month.
