Seoul, Feb 13 (UNI) Six people went missing in a fishing boat fire that broke out in waters off southwestern South Korea on Thursday, according to Yonhap news agency.
It was reported to the coast guard at around 8:39 a.m. local time (2339 GMT on Wednesday) that the 34-ton fishing vessel caught fire in waters off Buan County, about 200 km southwest of the capital Seoul.
Among eleven people on board the ill-fated ship, five were rescued but six others remained unaccounted for.
The coast guard dispatched 10 patrol boats to the scene and asked nearby ships for help.
Search operations were underway amid the high seas watch that was effective in nearby waters.
