Sensex drops 424.90 pts

Mumbai, Feb 21 (UNI) The BSE Sensex continued to slide for the fourth consecutive session on Friday tanking by 424.90 pts to settle at 75,311.06 on weak global cues.

The equity market remained negative almost the whole session, as it fell 123 pts to open at 75,612.61. It tanked 623 pts at 75,112.41, a day low, before closing at 75,311.06, falling 424.90 pts from its previous close.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slumped 117.25 pts at 22,795.90.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 22,921 and 22,720.30 pts respectively.

The stocks include, Auto, Health care, and Realty were down today. Auto by 2.60 pc, Health Care by 1.60 pc, Realty by 1.33 pc, and Oil and Gas by 1.42 pc.

The Mid-cap rose by 1.18 pc and the Small-cap by 1.32 pc.

In 30 scrips, 9 advanced while 21 declined.

The losers were M& M by 6.23 pc to Rs 2663.45, Adani Ports by 2.61 pc to Rs 1082.55, Tata Motors by 2.46 pc to Rs 672.90, Sun Pharma by 1.84 pc to Rs 1639 and Powergrid by 1.52 pc to Rs 261.75.

The gainers were Tata Steel by 1.88 pc to Rs 140.60, L & T by 1.10 pc to Rs 3311.50, HCL Technology by 0.68 pc to Rs 1699.60, and Asian Paints by 0.35 pc to Rs 2257.20.
