Bomb threats sent to schools in Bhopal, authorities launch immediate investigation

Bhopal, A series of bomb threats sent via email to two schools and a national forensic laboratory in Bhopal on March 10 has raised concerns about security. Podar World School in Badwai, St. Mary’s School in TT Nagar, and the National Forensic Laboratory in Khajuri area received alarming messages claiming they would be bombed. Additionally, the forensic lab was also warned about explosives being found near its premises.

Following these threats, local police and bomb disposal squads sprang into immediate action, conducting thorough searches at all three locations. However, no suspicious objects or explosives were found during the investigation. It’s worth noting that a similar threat was made a month ago to schools in Bhopal and Indore, where a threatening email in Telugu had been sent.

Podar World School Threat

According to Gandhi Nagar Police Station in-charge Suresh Farkale, Podar World School received an email at 2:45 PM claiming that the school would be bombed. Upon receiving the threat, police, bomb diffusion teams, and dog squads arrived on-site and conducted a detailed search, but found no suspicious items. The investigation into the authenticity of the email is still ongoing.

St. Mary’s School Also Targeted

St. Mary’s School in TT Nagar received a similar threat. Additional Police Commissioner Rashmi Agarwal Dubey confirmed that the bomb squad and police reached the school promptly and found no explosive materials after conducting a thorough search. A case has been filed, and further investigations are underway.

Forensic Lab Alert

Around 1:00 PM, the National Forensic Laboratory in Khajuri also received a bomb threat email, claiming explosives were near the facility. The bomb squad, police, and dog units conducted a detailed investigation but found no explosives.

No arrests have been made yet, and the police, with the help of the Cyber Cell, are working to trace the source of the threatening emails.
