Buenos Aires, Mar 13 (UNI) One hundred and fifty people have been detained during protests in the center of Buenos Aires, Argentine Security Minister Patricia Bullrich said on Thursday.
“About 15-17 police officers were injured, 150 people were detained … Many of those who came to this demonstration – fans, leftists – came ready to kill,” Bullrich said in an interview with the LN+ broadcaster.
At least 53 people were injured during protests, with 11 of them being hospitalized, La Nacion newspaper reported.
On Wednesday, a protest took place outside the congress building, with pensioners advocating for better living conditions. Football fans came to support them. About 2,000 people gathered in the square and adjacent streets.
Clashes with the police began almost from the very beginning of the demonstration. Protesters, mostly young people, threw sticks, bottles and stones at police officers, prompting the latters to use tear gas and water cannons.
