- 7 mobiles worth Rs 2 lakh recovered
Bhopal: Superintendent of Police, Railway, Rahul Kumar Lodha has given instructions to take action by running a campaign to stop the incidents of theft in passenger trains and platforms and to catch the miscreants. In this connection, Itarsi GRP station in-charge Ramsneh Chauhan and his team have arrested a miscreant. A total of 7 mobile phones worth Rs 2.25 lakh have been seized from the accused. He used to steal passengers’ belongings in moving trains. According to the information, after receiving information from the informer, the police detained a suspect Suraj Dhurve alias Honey and interrogated him. On this, he told that he bought a mobile phone and a watch from Raja alias Rajababu Mahato (18), a resident of Pyasa Nagar, Itarsi, which was seized. When the police detained Raja Mahato on the information given by Suraj, he admitted to stealing mobile phones of passengers in moving trains. He told that the stolen mobiles were hidden at his house. On the information given by Raja, the police recovered a total of 6 mobile phones of different companies including Realme, One Plus, Motorola, Oppo from his house, whose value is said to be Rs 2.25 lakh. GRP said that the complainant Anchal was travelling from Coimbatore to New Delhi in Kerala Express a few days ago. After leaving Itarsi station, she woke up and saw that the lady’s purse was missing. A mobile phone of Realme company and a watch along with other items were kept in the purse. Accused Raja had stolen the purse of the said girl. Apart from this, he had also stolen mobile phones of many passengers on the platform. Accused Raja is originally from Patna, Bihar. Currently he was living in Itarsi.

Miscreant robbed chain from woman’s neck
In Kolar area, a miscreant pulled a gold chain worth Rs 1.25 lakh from the neck of an elderly woman walking near her house and ran away. On hearing the woman’s scream, the Dial 100 personnel immediately cordoned off the area and nabbed the miscreant. The arrested accused is a monitored miscreant of Piplani area. Four permanent warrants were also issued against him from the court. The police is questioning the accused about other property related crimes. Police station in-charge Sanjay Soni said that Kamlesh Kumari wife of Shyam Prakash (66) lives in Danish Kunj Sector-1, Kolar Road. On Saturday evening at around 6:30 pm, she was walking on the colony road with her neighbor. Meanwhile, a short boy approached her and snatched the gold chain from her neck and ran away. On hearing the woman’s scream, the people around informed Dial 100.
The police reached the spot, cordoned off the area and nabbed the said youth with the help of the people. On searching, the chain snatched from Kamlesh’s neck was recovered, which was seized by the police. During interrogation, the accused told his name as Bablu alias Pankaj Sarkar son Uttam Sarkar (22) resident of Gupta Colony, Anand Nagar Police Station Piplani. The police has arrested the accused.
