- 70 removed in compliance with Collector’s orders
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
In Bhopal, authorities have intensified actions against loudspeakers following orders issued by Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh. In light of the ongoing board examinations, restrictions have been placed on the use of sound systems and DJs, especially during the night. Over the past four days, more than 70 loudspeakers have been removed by teams led by SDMs across the city.
The collector’s directive prohibits the use of any sound systems between 10 PM and 6 AM. Additionally, DJ setups are limited to a single sound system that must adhere to prescribed noise levels. These measures were issued under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code to curb unregulated and non-compliant usage of loudspeakers in religious, commercial, industrial, and residential areas.
Teams on the Ground
Under the leadership of SDMs, enforcement teams have been actively removing loudspeakers, including those at religious sites. For instance, 30 loudspeakers were taken down in the Kolar area alone, and 17 were removed in Govindpura. SDM Ravish Kumar Srivastava confirmed that the action will continue to ensure students can prepare for their exams without disturbances.
Strict Regulations
Permission from the ADM or Police Commissioner is mandatory for using sound systems between 6 AM and 10 PM, limited to two hours within designated event areas. Violators will face penalties or equipment seizure under the Madhya Pradesh Noise Pollution Control Act, 1985.
These measures aim to maintain peace and ensure a conducive environment for students during their exams.
