Successful cadaveric kidney transplant
Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal has set a historic milestone in its kidney transplant program by discharging its first cadaveric kidney transplant patient in a healthy condition. This significant achievement was made possible under the leadership of Executive Director, Professor (Dr.) Ajai Singh, highlighting the hospital’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare services in Central India. Prof. Singh expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “This milestone is a proud moment for AIIMS Bhopal, which showcases the dedication and expertise of our Anesthesia, Nephrology, and Urology teams. This successful transplant not only demonstrates our institution’s capabilities but also proves that we are capable of handling complex medical procedures and setting a new benchmark for regional healthcare services.”
Dr. Mahendra Atlani, Head of the Nephrology Department, emphasized the significance of this transplant, saying, “This successful transplant is not only a cause of relief for the patient and their family but also showcases AIIMS Bhopal’s competence in complex medical procedures. This success will inspire others to consider organ donation, thereby saving more lives.” The transplant was made possible through the efforts of the Urologists Dr. Devashish Kaushal, Dr. K. Madhavan, Dr. Ketan Mehra, Dr. Nikita Srivastava, and the Anesthesia team consisting of Dr. Vaishali Vaindeskar, Dr. Sunaina Tejapal Karna, and Dr. Shikha Jain.
