AIIMS Bhopal Director urges resident doctors to end strike

Bhopal: In the aftermath of the recent resident doctor case incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, medical professionals across the country have raised concerns about the safety and security of healthcare workers. This incident sparked meetings between representatives from the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA), Indian Medical Association (IMA), and Resident Doctors’ Associations of government medical colleges and hospitals in Delhi with the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in New Delhi.

The associations voiced their demands for stronger safety measures for healthcare workers. In response, the Union Ministry acknowledged their concerns, assured them of comprehensive efforts to ensure the security of healthcare professionals, and announced the formation of a committee to address these safety issues. The Ministry also highlighted that 26 states have already enacted legislation for the protection of healthcare workers and expressed its commitment to further strengthening these protections. Stakeholders, including State Governments, will be invited to contribute suggestions to the newly formed committee.

In light of these developments, the Director of AIIMS Bhopal, Prof. Dr. Ajai Singh has called on all resident doctors to end their strike, emphasizing the larger public interest and the suffering of patients. He further stated that all the demands of the doctors have been addressed, with the Health Minister responding sensitively and proactively to their concerns.
